The SSAT, known as the Secondary School Admission Test, is an American secondary school entrance exam with three levels: Elementary (for grades 3-4), Intermediate (for grades 5-7) and Advanced (for grades 8-11).

 

Content Components of the SSAT

The composition and requirements of the test vary depending on the test level, but all include four sections: vocabulary, mathematics, reading, and writing:

Vocabulary: examines students’ mastery and recognition of vocabulary, including synonyms and analogy questions;

Mathematics: examines students’ problem-solving skills, covering basic concepts in computation, basic algebra, geometry, and mathematics;

Reading: examining students’ ability to comprehend the texts they read;

Writing: depending on the level of the test, the form and ability of the writing tested varies. Writing does not count towards the total score, but essays are submitted to the schools to which the student applies for admission;

The exam also includes 16 pilot questions, which are not scored but are equally important for examining students’ learning abilities.

 

Suitable for:

SSAT Middle Level: for G5-G7 students

SSAT Upper Level: for G8 and above students

 

Course Type:

Small class, no more than 12 students per class

 

Course content:

Detailed explanation of the official questioning ideas, breakthrough vocabulary focus, according to the different types of reading articles, expand the background knowledge of the article and analyze different problem solving ideas, help students to do both ability and skills to improve.

 

Class Time: January to June 2022, every Saturday afternoon 4.00-5.30pm, 20 weeks in total
